ARM CONSULTANT BIOGRAPHY

Arthur W. Worth, Eng.
Senior Consultant

 
Art Worth is a Civil Engineer registered in the Province of Quebec, and engaged in railroad engineering from 1957 to the present.  As Track Standards Consultant on the ARM team he is particularly qualified in matters relating to track material standards and sourcing, track standard plans, failure analysis, track strength specification and analysis, track train dynamics and derailment cause finding.
 
Art’s work with ARM includes providing advice on many subjects related to his fields of expertise, as required. He will be familiar to many ARM customers as the secretary of many meetings and teleconferences, and as the secretary of two subcommittees of AREMA Committee 4, Rail. The latter two subcommittees relate to rail grinding, frog, switch and crossing grinding, rail lubrication and friction management, and rail joints, insulated joints and compromise rails.
 
Mr. Worth’s career involves more than 42 years with the Canadian National Railway Company, the last 20 of which were as System Engineer Standards or equivalent in the track department.  One assignment 1975-95 was to represent the Track Department on the CN Track Train Dynamics Committee, while that committee existed. 

Since retirement in 1999 at age 65 he has acted as consultant for CANAC (now Savage Industries/CANAc), Agence Metropolitaine du Transport (Montreal), and SNC-Lavalin Inc. 

Mr. Worth has been a consultant to Advanced Rail Management since 2001.

Professional Affiliations:
Member since 1960 (now Honorary Member), American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA).
Working Member, AREMA Committees 2 (Track Measuring Systems) and 4 (Rail).   Secretary of Subcommittees 6 (Joint Bars, Insulated Joints) and 9 (Rail Grinding, Lubrication, Friction Management) of Committee 4.
